Question:

I have a lot of copper pipe for my water supply in my house. I noticed that a lot of the joints where they?

were soldered are corroded with green corrosion and have slow leaks in these areas. I thought copper wasn't supposed to corrode that much. Anyhow, what is the cause and what is the remedy?

Answer:

they are not corroding-they are loosing their seal/ connection-need to re solder them -could be from tension on lines or vibrations or poor workmanship-might be best to have plumber look at them
The green color is verdigris it is a reaction between flux and copper. It happens when the flux is not wiped from the sweated area after it has been completed.
it tuns green because of the acid flux that was applied before soldering. Leaks dont usually occur if the joint never leaked to begin with, however to fix it you will need to reheat the joint and either pull it apart, clean it and re solder it or try heating it to see if more solder will feed into it. Make sure line is empty.
