I have an old metal garage door, will I get any money for it at the scrap yard? If so how much?

Answer:

I usually get between $30-$50 depending on the gauge of the steel and if the doors is insulated.
Depending on metal not much but aluminum is around 80 cents per lb. Since prices change daily try the website www.okorder
It depends what metal the door is and what the hardware is on the door. More than likely your garage door would be considered tin and the going rate depends on the area you live. I suggest you call your local scrap yards to get prices. Tin usually goes for around .06-.15 a pound where I live in Florida. At 100 lbs you are only going to make $6-15 in which is it worth it for you in gas to transport just the door. I suggest getting a couple more metal objects together before you go to the scrap yard. Cutting the door in half should not effect your price. Try sticking a magnet to the door to tell what type of metal you have.
Yes you would! But it all depends on what type of metal, i buy metal so if u add what metal it is, i will give you a valuation
If aluminum about .80 to $1.00 a pound. Otherwise pennys a pound for metal.
