Question:

i have dry skin we are planning to put a air exchanger in our house do we need to get a humidifier?

or air exchanger alone will solve our problem

Answer:

Air exchangers are generally used to lower the humidity. Tight houses tend to collect too much humidity from cooking, showering, etc. If you need additional humidity, you need to add a humidifier. The April Aire type that attaches to your furnace works well. I don't know the particulars of your settings as mine only has a humidistat, but you should have gotten an owners manual from the builder. Contact the builder or the air exchanger manufacturer for a manual. With 0 degrees and the air too dry, I would turn it off. If you find moisture forming on the lower edge of your windows, your humidity is too high and will also condense in your walls soaking the insulation and making it useless. In your climate, you really cannot have a comfortable level of humidity when it is this cold without damaging your home.
yes you do. more in the winter months check with local home store to find out what your humidity level should be .
For best health plus to keep furniture and rugs from drying out, homes should run 30 to 40% humidity. An air exchanger does not do anything for humidity. A simple after market humidifier will help, but the best way is to add a permanent humidifier to the HVAC system in the house. AprilAire comes to mind as one to check out. That is the brand I added in my last home which did not have any installed. Also remember, that moist air will heat you far better and for less cost than dry air, so you will also save in your heating bills in the winter months. I hope this helps you
