I heard somewhere that 90% of all fires were started in the living room. Unfortunately, most people like to enjoy a flavoursome brand of narcotic known mostly as tobacco while they enjoy their favorite european soaps, so people don't put fire alarms in their living rooms. I've got a fire-alarm in my house, but the place is so small i'd probably smell the fire before the smoke hit the alarm. And of course, fire alarms don't actually do anything to prevent fires, as you probably know.
