Question:

I have wood clad pella windows installed and the roof is not complete yet. Will rain stain the wood?

My contractor installed the windows before the roof was complete and now we are up for 24 hours of rain. My pella windows are pine clad and I am concerned that rain will stain the wood and will show up during staining and sealing process. What can I do to make sure this does not happen? Should I contact Pella to make sure that my butt is covered? We have 35 windows, all are wood clad interior/metal clad exterior. I have taken pictures all along the way and so everything is and will be documented in pictures. Here is a link to the pictures that will show the kind and type of pella windows we have installed.

Answer:

this shouldn't be a problem the roof will will be on in a matter of days don't stress the contractor put the windows in like that because its faster so long as they are carefull the wood will still take paint or stain I'm a professional painter 30 years relax and enjoy the building process of your new home it will be over before you know it
Any idea what might wash off the exsisting roof? They will stain. Make your contractor cover them with plastic. He`s the one that got the cart before the horse! The inside of the window is`nt designed to get wet, the outside is! Your problem is`nt with Pella, it`s with your contractor.
I understand what you are saying. I helped install Pella windows in about a thousand homes in Las Vegas, my construction company had their picture in the paper for being the first to install Pella in the Vegas area. You did the Right thing, now contact Pella and get there input. This is the normal procedure for installing windows and I've never heard of any problems but, there the but there's always the first time, isn't there? You seem to have all corners covered, now make that call to Pella and see what happens. Good luck
Normally the windows are installed AFTER the roofing is complete for a couple of reasons: To avoid damage to windows from roofing debris. So window interior is protected from weather damage. I agree with the first answer, call Pella right away Good Luck
