Answer:

Go to the home improvement store and get a pipe union. It will be like the connection under your sink for the drain trap. It will allow you to bend the pipe.
for one, this was filmed from a script. the script allows the director to set up shots and coordinate with the audio designer so that dialog requirements are planned out. this was a simple program, so it was possible that the dialog was not recorded on the video camera, but it could have been. Only 2 or 3 camera angles were used for each scene. Either the entire scene was shot twice, or more likely the cuts only were re-shot. Remember some of the cuts were just reaction shots, they could fit in anywhere for continuity. the sound track was done hollywood style, that is, many separate tracks, which in this case consisted of- 1. Music- usually stereo 2. Foley- footsteps, doors, phone rings, 3. Tone- office noise, traffic at the restaurant, yep the background sounds did not exist at the shoot, they were faked, otherwise you would detect changes in tone with the camera cuts. 4. Dialog- done live with boom mics. but the dialog recordings can overlap video for continuity. I think 2 dialog tracks were used. 5. Over Dub- the mothers voice on the telephone, was added later. Over dubbing is popular with film makers, it greatly reduces the need for sound stages and field recording. So the editor for this short had to handle about 7 audio tracks. These tracks are there for the entire program and mixed in as needed.
