And so on is that the way they wash or do they spin like and older washer does

Answer:

That's normal. Our front loader does the same thing. I think the pause is to allow the clothes to soak and possibly to save energy. And I also think the washer gages the weight of the load and adds water if needed....which is why your washer sometimes adds water after that pause. -
Your getting confused with the rinse cycle They wash spin fill up with water to rinse Pause then go to final spin
