Question:

I just changed my wheel bearings on one front wheel. I hear a 'clunk' when going around corners left and right

The bearings sound fine and smooth, Could this be from not tightening the bearing main nuts tight enoughgt;? I didn't use a torque wrench, it says 165 - 195 nM for torque, but I did it by feel... What could it be? It couldn't be the kingpin bearings? (Those were changed too)

Answer:

with the preliminary information you gave, it sounds like you have a CV joint going out. One way to confirmt this would be to jack your car up, and with the car in neutral, turn the wheel by hand, and see if it clunks then. If it does, you should be able to with a lot of care gently wigle it back and forth and locate the source.
Depending if you have only a lower and upper control arm or not like on dodge trucks. It sounds like the cv joints. They tend to pop or clunk while turning continously until wheel is straightened when the boot protecting the joints have broken or split letting the grease which keeps it lubricated dry or leak out, therefore making a popping noise while turning. May need replacing. Hope I was of some help.
This could be serious. The problem is not the wheel bearings. The problem is with the car doors. The 'clunk' sound that you're hearing is a person falling out of the car each time you round a curve because the car doors are not properly secured. This will also explain why there is less conversation in the car as your trip progresses. To fix this problem, just get a really big wrench and tap the door locking mechanisms a few times with it. This should get things working again. You may also want to revisit the route you took to pick up the people that had the misfortune of having to walk after falling out of your car.
if its front wheel drive tighten cv shaft bolt if noise dosent stop replace cv shaft
