Question:

Bench press question.?

I just got a bench press and am new to lifting weights. What muscles does regular bench press, incline bench press, and curls work? And how often should I do each of these (every day, every other day, switch each one every day)?

Answer:

Bench Press and Incline BP work the chest (pecs). I assume you are talking about bicep curls, and obviously they work the biceps. Frequency should be no more than twice a week. Research has show there is minimal benefit (even a -ve benefit) to working muscles any more often than that.
as for how often you should work out, it depends on how hard and how long you work out. Bench press works pretty much your whole upper body, and curls specify the biceps. If you work out like as if you're trying to gain muscle, you should go every other day, but if you're just trying to get in shape you should probly only do it after the soreness has gone away from the last workout. You should go more intense if you're trying to gain muscle mass
Bench works the chest triceps. I suggest you get a book by Bill Pearl called Getting Stronger and he explains EVERYTHING.
Regular bench press and incline press, work upon your pectorals. They increase their build and bring your chest into shape. The front curls work on your biceps and the back curl on your triceps and latismusses.Your exercise schedule must contain each of these items on daily basis.
