Question:

i just installed a outside wood stove feeding hot water to sidearm exchanger at hot water tank.?

my water going into hot water tank is about 170 f degrees but the water is coming out of the tank about 90 f degrees. the piping is apx 100 ft to tank from stove i have a pump at stove that pumps 27 gallon per min. electic heats the water to 115 f degrees any ideas to what could be the problem? this has new stove, piping, and sidearm exchanger also removed the new mixing valve but that didnt help.

Answer:

Is it possible that the sidearm is plugged and not letting the water circulate properly? How is the hot water pressure? Or like the other answer you got maybe the pump is pushing to fast and not letting the water raise in temp. I#x27;ve have seen the system before and actually done service on them. How big is the heat exchanger or side arm which I#x27;m assuming is a plate heat exchanger. Size does matter.
I am not really well experienced and don't know what a sidearm exchanger is. But it sounds like you are sort of steam heating your home with a 27 gallon per minute pump, right? That being the case, the drop in temperature is normal as heat is released in the house, maybe. NO?
