Pepsi Lime was my favorite. It seems a lot of people bought it...it is hard to believe not enough people liked it. Please bring it back!
New England ..........UUUhhmmm crab grass is a annual SUMMER time weed . It is not even sprouted yet ! It will emerge from LAST years seeds when the soil temp. reaches about 65 , sometime in early June for your area I would guess. Put out about 3 to 4 weekly applications of a pre emergent for crabgrass , sometime in early June , follow up with two or three more applications . That will probably get about half . Pull all of them when they emerge - every week before you mow . NEVER let them develop the fluffy seed head . Mow before it gets to that stage or when the actual stalk come up just cut off those stalks . The fluffy seed heads are next years crop. I would guess your grass is Fescue .........Stays green during the winter ? Lime is to make the soil ph more alkaline . If you have pine tress then your soil probably is more acidic than optimum for fescue growth . Lime will make the grass a darker healthier shade of green . To simplify , think of lime as the straw for the grass to absorb the fertilizer . You probably can put out a light application now followed by another in 2 weeks then maybe one more. STOP fertalising when air temps get into the 80's as too much fertaliser at that high temp will start to burn and stress the grass anyway . Not much to do with fescue during the summer except to water it PROPERLY and mow it .
