Question:

I need help in math class? Can you solve some equations for me??

I am failing math and I need help? Solve this equation:The city of Rubberville plans to dig a rectangular landfill. The landfill will have a base with dimensions 700 feet by 200 feet and a depth of 85 feet.A.)An excavator was hired to dig the hole for the landfill. How many cubic yards of dirt will he have to haul away?

Answer:

Given dimensions of the landfill are - 700ft x 200ft x 85 ft Hence total volume to be excavated = 700ft x 200ft x 85 ft = 11,900 cub.ft = (11,900 divided by 27) cub.yd. = 440.740 cub.yd (Note that 27 cub.ft = 1 cub.yd)
l=700 feet=233.33yards b=200 feet=66.67yards h=85 feet=28.33yards Dirt removed = volume of the landfill. = l*b*h =233.33yards*66.67yards*28.33yards =440704.627463 cubic yard
