Answer:

Thes people don't know what they are talking about. Aside from the Hondamatic that was made years ago, the only well known production bike that still has an auto transmission belongs to the Ridley company. Their bikes are over-priced, though. You could always install a centrifugal clutch in any bike. This allows you to shift gears without having to deal with the clutch lever. Kind of like the auto-stick function on newer automatic cars.
well, motorcycles with automatic transmissions are extremely rare, because most riders feel it takes too much of the riding experience away. i have to agree with these people, theres nothing more fun than slapping my way through three gears in rapid succession right off of the stop light. also, if you are new to riding, then perhaps you simply are intimidated by the gear system on bikes. i know i was. my suggestion is to take a riders-choice class, or something similar. the style in which they teach you gently guides you into using the system, till it becomes second nature. However, if your set on driving only bikes with an automatic transmission, then im afraid your choices are very limited. the only automatic transmission bike on the market right now is the DN-01 by Honda. its engine is small at 608cc's and its tag price is steep, at 15,599. Also, theres a few older models, mostly by honda, which had the option of having an automatic transmission in it. i believe the old CB models by honda had that option. but the simple fact remains, most people, if they decide to ride, want to experience the full package of riding, and shifting is a huge part of that. the amount of control you have over a motorcycle is far superior than that of an automatic car, you lean your body to turn, your throttle is super responsive, the shifting helps control speeds, etc. taking away the shifting ability on a bike is taking away from your control of the bike. and thats a scary thing.
Most Scooters have CVT transmissions - you don't shift them. There are a few automatic transmissions on motorcycles: The 2010 Honda VFR is coming out with an automatic model this year. The Yamaha FJR has a clutchless trasmission - you still have to shift, just no clutch. Honda's DN-01 Honda's Silverwing with a CVT and Yamaha's T-max are scooters on steroids. There have been a handful of others over the decades, just none that sold well.
Candles and blanket in a nice setting. ( ps may 7th is my bday )
