Question:

I think i broke a bracket.?

i was playing with the bracket and my nail slipped and chipped something.i think it was the glue? and now its loosehow do i explain this to my mean orthodontist.next week.?

Answer:

I always feel like I break my brackets too, but I never actually do. Tell him the truth if you can get up the courage, if it comes to it, change orthodontists, you have to feel comfortable talking to them. But or tell him that when you were flossing, the floss got stuck in your teeth, and when you pulled, you pulled at a weird angle and it caught the bracket with it and you felt something weird chip. My ortho gives me 3 chances and the charges me $25. After 5 chances they take my braces off.
If you can literally slide the bracket on the wire back and forth, then its broken completely. Just say that you were having a little pain or felt uncomfy at that bracket, or you had food somehow stuck in your bracket (very, very normal) and you were trying to get it out and slipped. Or just tell them the truth. They will probably just take it off and reglue it on, or just leave it alone. If its not YOUR fault, they wont charge. At my office, they give you 2 chances, then it costs $50. ;)
Just tell him the truth or tell him that you don't know what happened. Brackets can loosen over time. You shouldn't be intimidated by your orthodontist. He gets paid a lot of money to work to help you.
