hate to think what would happen if the cat clawed or chewed through one of the heating wires or pyssed on the blanket. Electrical appliances and cats do not mix.
Just be careful that they don't get too warm. They have been known to start fires on occasion. Also they have been linked to cancers in the past but since the cat is already quite old, I don't think that is too much of a risk. However I wouldn't want to sleep with electricity encasing me all night. I don't think it's healthy on many levels. I would warm up some hot water bottles at night, wrap them in towels and make your own safe warm spot for her.

In my opinion, there is no need for this, and in fact, sounds more dangerous than beneficial. First, a cat's body temperature is higher than a human's, and we need to consider that when things feel cool to us, they may not be cool at all to your cat. Also, your cat has a coat (assuming you don't have a hairless breed) and this is very effective at trapping in body heat. If your cat needs to be kept warm, keep them inside, and make them a comfy spot in front of the radiator have them sleep with you for body heat if they want, but they shouldn't require an electric blanket.
I would use a heating pad..a regular people one..put it on low and put a towel or blanket over this and MAKE sure it doesn't get to hot. It's cost efficient and will do the same thing the heated cat bed does. I can't say this will be of any benefit but i use these for my older cats in the house in the winter time BUT i NEVER go to bed and leave these on.
