17? I would put up with his BS for about 2 seconds. Explain that he has 2 options. He can square his a** away the easy way or the hard way. Those are the only 2 options. I think perhaps you've lost sight of what it means to be a parent. Is he running things or are you? Handle it.
If he behaves that badly, why does he still have video games? I'd take them, along with his cell phone and computer, and lock them at work until he shaped up or agreed to counseling. And his bedroom door would be in the garage.
