I want to use my mobile phone to make a purchase using my credit card on a mobile website. I trust the website itself. However, should I trust the WAP technology? How likely is it (from a security pespective) that someone could steal my private information?

Answer:

Online ordering has NEVER been secure. It doesn't need to be. The credit card companies are the ones who provide the useful security. Check to see what your fraud liability is, and what their policies are concerning it.
Any information sent over a mobile phone is broadcast using an electromagnetic transmission which can be monitored, recorded and deciphered by interested parties. I cannot quantify the danger, but it is greater than that of an order sent over telephone lines.
Be VERY careful when providing credit card info, whether it is on the net or phone. Yes there are security concerns when using a mobile phone.
