I just bought a house. The walls are painted a light tan and most of my furniture in my living room is black. What color curtains should I get? I have wood floors and I have a red shag area rug that I might use depending on curtain color.

I'd go with a matching or slightly darker shade of green and work some of that tan in if you can find a good print. A contrasting color in addition to the green, such as yellow or blue would give the room a laid-back, happy feel. You could get throw pillows in solid colors and tie it all together.
Red curtains would look good if you can match the rug. White curtains would also look nice. Tan and black are neutral colors, so pretty much anything will look good with them.
