I was told that to cool an attic, you are better off adding radiant barrier than insulationIs this correct?

Answer:

You can buy insulation with aluminum foil on one sideThis is what you probably wantThis will help the a/c in the warm weather not to run as muchThe foil helps keep the heat in better during the winterThe attics are warm because the sun beats down on the roof all day longA radiant barrier to work in reflecting heat waves has to be installed above the trusses and stapled to the underside of the roof or between the studs on the walls (in the attic area)The biggest culprit in hot attics is improper ventingYour best bet is to install a good vent fan with a thermostat or timer on it to suck the hot air out and awayThis will help your a/c to run lessYou won't need to run the vent in cold weatherDome/spiraled roof vents are available alsoCheck with a building supply center on cost and installationI haven't ever used anything other than vent fans and I wouldn't mess around installing foil on the walls or under the roof sheathing unless the attic was being used as a bedroom or something where it was used all the timeGo with an exhaust vent fan.
I think that they are all a bunch of power-hungry egomaniacs who cannot be trusted to do what is in the best interest for our countryI believe that Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul will secure our borders, protect us from terrorists and increase the deportation of illegal aliensSince winning the war against Islamic Jihadists and stopping the illegal alien invasion are my two tops issues, I hope that one of them wins the Republican nominationNone of the Dems can be trusted to secure our borders and do whatever is necessary to win the war on terrrorThey are just too soft.

I don't think any of them doI think they're all interested in becoming president because it's a great position to holdThen from there they fake themselves down to look like they care about things like thatToo bad Gore isn't in the raceYou can tell by his actions what is important to himHe didn't just fade away because he lost the election beforeHe's actually gone on to look at issues that affect all of usSo far it looks like maybe Ron Paul would do the best job, however I hesitate condoning him, because he is a Republican, and that's the party that has kept bush in powerRon Paul as a Democrat would be great.

Thats all relative to ones presuppositionsOthers will usually call me a far right RepublicanSo I trust the Republican right to have the nation's best interest at heart (such as Hunter, Tancredo, Paul, and perhaps Romney and Fred Thompson) I mistrust the motivations of the left a great deal (based upon my beliefs, previous experience, and history) If however I had to pick one on the left that I trust does care sincerely about America, yet I disagree with a great deal, I would have to say Joe BidenOn the right.see list aboveI do not trust Obama at all, nor McCain (he has proven himself to be untrustworthy in politics.and stubbornly destructive to the nation)Hillary, while I do not trust her at all and think she would do much to harm America in her term, is a competent person, and has many of the qualities Bush lacks (which is missed by most of America atm)She would be better than the other Dem front runners simply for that reason(Also the Dem on the top tier that will, IMHO, hurt the nation the least of the three) Obviously I am voting for the Republican however, if they can provide a candidate besides McCain(I am supporting Fred Thompson atm).
