a. bar: this shows the small number of countries side by side with their iron ore reserves. a pie chart is an inferior choice unless your need is to do more than give amounts such as to compare each country's reserves in relation to the others. b. pie: this type chart is good for showing relative percentages of a whole: (in this case the atmosphere) at a point in time. The pie chart is preferred when comparing ratios. A bar chart would be an inferior choice owing to the extremes in values and the bars are not easy to compare against other bars nor to sense the gases as a whole. c line: these charts are good for tracking a single variable ( crude oil prices) over time. One can see a trend and also daily/weekly prices. Line graphs are the choice for illustrating trends.
