Question:

If a small fire erupts in the room, what should be used to extinguish it?

My wife and I were just sitting down and the small heater started to give off burning fumes. The fumes are gone now, but it made us wonder what would we do if some kind of fire does erupts (God Forbid!) in the room.We are in a two story house and our bedroom is on the second floor. There is only one exit door and the windows are those that open with a little rotation handle. Even then, they only open half way, which makes it nearly impossible for a window escapeIn this case, if a fire does erupt, then what can we use to quickly put out the fire with? What kind of garment/blanket can (and can not) be used? I know silk would make things worst, but what else? In the mode of panic, how do we quickly determine what to use? The only water-source is from taps, and I am guessing it won't be fast enough for panic situationsAny suggestions?

Answer:

Yes, I have put much thought into the Maglev concept and I do believe it would work in one of my prototype ideas. The track, although, would have to be perfectly straight with moderately wide turns as it is when used in train tracks. The ride would have moreso record breaking speed than height, since there is no friction except for air, this is how the maglev trains go so fast. But using the magnetic levitation along with linear induction motors (magnetic launches already used in coasters) the trains could be pushed to very high speeds. I cannot say my prototype idea but I have had many people say that it just might work and it utilizes magnetic levitation. The cost would be dramatically increased although but a park being able to say The Fastest Coaster On Earth will bring in enough people to pay it off. Most steel coasters are already smooth (the Bolliger and Mabillard and Intamin coasters) just a select few are not (the Vekoma coasters). If you're nervous about he metal to metal feeling it may help that the wheels on coasters are not metal, they are a form of rubber (i think I've heard the word silicon wheels used before, but I'm not sure, I just know that they are a form of rubber)
My electrical teacher had a cool flourescent bulb crusher it was a 55 gallon drum w a motor mounter in lid shaft down with what looked like a lawnmower blade mounted under it off to the side of the lid was a small hole. turn on motor put bulb in hole instant crushed bulbs it was cool and safe. As the bulb went in the blade would spin so fast it busted whatever went in he built it himself. Just an idea.
Yeah I do all the time! Actually even seeing them makes me have that feeling lol! It is a weird feeling, but in a good way. I kinda like it! lmao Tokio Hotel für immer!!
