I lift my car for three months on the garage and someone told me that I will need to make an oil change to drive it again.
No that's a bunch of bull,,,oil has longer life than the milk in ur fridge,,,,if it needed an oil change when u parked it,yes then it would need to be changed, oil does not break down or seperate in three month's,and with the car sittin for three month's,not running, it will NOT ABSORB MOISTURE,,,IN THE OIL,.lots of people leave ther cars for longer period's than thatthat would mean if u had 3 or 4 quats of oil sittin in ur garage, for a few month'sit wouldn't be any good
The reason that would be recommended is that sitting still the oil can absorb moisture. If the moisture is excessive it can turn the oil into a jelly like mess. You can start engine and let it warm up to see what it looks like. After it is warm shut the engine off and pull the dipstick. If it looks like normal oil it shouldn't be a problem, but if it looks milky or like chicken soup, change it. The three months recommendation is based on casual driving such as the little old lady who drives her car once a week. Her oil can build up acids but your car was sitting, not running, not building up acids so the oil might be okay. Oil is not all that expensive so if there is any doubt, change it. But change it while it is hot so it will flow out easily. That is why I suggested you warm the engine anyway before you check the dipstick. Drive careful out there.
I agree with Ricke on this one. The oil isn't going to get water in it that soon. Belivie it or not! Just drive and change when you get the amount of miles you change on. I've had my truck setting for 6 months and never started it. I changed the oil and guess what. No water. Still good.
