im thinking about getting a hamster and i was lookin for the stuff i need and i was lookin at the regular wood shaving bedding but do i also need the bed fluff?
In my opinion, bed fluff is not necessary, and can be dangerous. The fibers could wrap around limbs and such. I, personally, wouldn't risk it. Wood shavings are fine. However, stay away from pine and cedar shavings. The aromatic oils can cause respiratory problems. Aspen is the safest wood shaving you'll find. Another popular bedding among hamster owners is Carefresh. It's very soft, and they can tear it up for their nests.
yes definitely! Hamsters love nesting, so it is essential to put little pieces of fluff or cotton material in there for them. The easiest and cheapest solution is toilet paper... also the empty roll would be great for chewing as well!
I think if its a baby thenput fluff in it then after a while then start putting inn wood shaveing s and fluff mixed to gether Its a good idea It works for my hamster and he loves it :)
I wouldnt use wood shavings they can get in their eyes and nose. Bed fluff isnt good either as the small pieces can get wrapped around the hamsters lungs, the best thing you can use is ripped toilet roll or kitchen roll, undyed and unscented. Soft ripped paper bedding is best.
Bed fluff is actually really dangerous and should not be on the market. It can wrap around their little feet and cut of their circulation or if eaten can block their intestines. Give him some plain shredded toiletpaper instead for his bed, It is 100% safe and they love it. Also pine and ceder shavings arent great for their lungs, especially ceder, try aspen or carefresh.
