I drive a 2010 Rav4, I heard a car alarm going off about 10minutes ago, it was going off for about a good 10minutes, I just got this car, I am not sure how the alarm system works, but If it was MY car‘s alarm going off how do I know? Will my keys blink as a sign? Or no one knows until they actually go and look, also i live in an town house so there are many cars parked in this area. The alarm I was hearing is now silent, does that mean that someone found that it was there car and went to turn it off? Or could it still be MY car and some how it just went off or something? Please help, Im a 20yr old female with no good knowledge about cars. Thanks.
no, the key fob usually doesnt blink of give any indication that the alarm is going off. at least i havent seen one that does. most likely the car alarm just shut off by itself after a certain time passes. what you should do later today is activate your alarm, bump the car or lift the door handle or whatever to set it off to hear what your particular alarm sounds like. that way you can recognize if its your car and go down and disable it next time it goes off.
