I don't know if you can still find those rollers, but my mom used to form my wet hair strands into a circle and secure them with bobby pins until dry. My hair fell into little ringlets. There was also something called spoolies she used to twist my hair around for the ringlet effect. They were rubber and circular. Thanks for the blast from the past.
