im in the process of getting a job at a local ford dealer. what im wondering is maybe after my shift if there is a free lift can i bring in my own car and work on it. i will be getting a job as a tech so obviously i will know how to work on it and put it on the lift safely. i know not all dealerships are the same but what do some do?
I played skyrim for a week, and since i found a lot of ingame bugs and no goal at all (beside chasing stormcloacks or imperials, and resolving a mistery how the drafon apeared at begining and who's behind it) i started playing mass effect (more action, storyline better in my oppinion, 2 sequences) so ask yourself: is hours of walking in circle from quest giver to location and back really addictive? now i play it once a month to get some lvl up and thats it.
Most would tell you no because of insurance reasons. One you may damage their equipment and then they have to show it was being used for business reasons. That means an on the clock employee repairing a vehicle with a work order. It depends on your boss and their rules but I would say that no you couldn't. Plus most dealerships are pretty busy and any empty bay would be filled with a car %90 of the time whether after hours or not.
Totally up to the owner of the dealership. My brother owns three stores and I can use the auto wash, shop equipment and lifts after hours. Insurance liability would be one issue. Another is the loss of productivity preparing for the repair even or the clean up during working hours. Only way you'll know is by asking up front. This is probably one of those cases where you don't want to be asking for forgiveness instead of asking permission up front. Could cost you your employment.
All of us here can only guess at an answer. Ask you employer then you will have the conclusive answer.
LOL Any great game is addictive. If you don't want to play for hours and hours every day then you will need to use self control :)
