You could make a nicely decorated sign and put it on the table with the folded baby clothes therefor you don't make any holes in the clothes, and if you nicely decorated it, which i know you probably would, it wont look cheap. You could tape it on the bottom of the table but i personally kinda find that hard to read. So you could make a sign, and then make a stand to put it on, and then just set it on the table with the clothes. Or you could try something like reception card holders, a recipe holder would work, or if you want bigger then you could try using an 8x10 picture frame temporarily.
I assume by your question that you are dry fitting it and it won't go all the way down. You need to use primer first which softens the PVC, then the glue. Once you do this it will fit all the way down.
