Question:

Are off road tires better than normal tires on motorcycles?

It seems that since they have more traction they would be better on roads also. Why not just always have off road tires.

Answer:

the big gaps between the tread of an off road tire allow them to dig into the dirt better but on the street they just mean less rubber on the road and considering the fact that most bikes only touch the road in 2 spots that are maybe the size of a 50 cent piece believe me the more rubber that's touching the road the better off you are! The truth is street tires only really have tread for basically 2 reasons 1. to be able to show wear so ya can tell how worn the tire is! and.2. to give water a place to go when on wet pavement, otherwise it will try to ride on the water itself and not even touch the pavement! Also please note; Slicks are not for burning out! Slicks are used so that as much rubber as posible is touching the pavement! they only reason dragsters do burnouts before a run is to heat up the tires so the rubber gets stickier making for better traction during the actual run !

They are popular in racing applications due to their light weight, and their aesthetic qualities make them desirable as aftermarket equipment among car enthusiasts. They are generally recognizable by their symmetrical spokes and high shine. Alloy wheels are automobile (car, motorcycle and truck) wheels which are made from an alloy of aluminium or magnesium. They are typically lighter for the same strength and provide better heat conduction and improved cosmetic appearance over normal wheels.
