Question:

if you had an old car that maybe didnt even run anymore--even sitting in a junk yard--and you wanted to make

the gas guage read full even though the tank was empty. what would you do?

Answer:

Get in the tank and stuff something in the tank to make the floater rise, kinda like the tank on your toilet, the floater rises and the water stops re-filling the tank Good luck
Usually the older tanks only had a single sensor, so you could a) Fill it with water on a slope with the bonnet towards the foot of the slope (sensor in older cars located near the front of tank, so need only half a tank of water to make it full). b) somehow open the tank and jerry rig the sensor so that it permanently reads full. this is a tough method, as you have to place the car on a car lift to get access to the tank. c) Reprogram the cluster on the dash, i.e. put a chip on the wire that sends information to the fuel gauge to always send the signal for full. d) Unscrew the cluster and super glue the needle in such a way that it can't move and is permanently stuck in full. (pretty difficult, because the needle is connected to a electronics board).

pull the float out of gas tank and push float up or like the other guy said fill with water or cut wires wire togather they will make gage read full
