Stay away from polyester resins you will experience bonding issues later. Epoxy is your best choice.
Floor repair is a big job.Remove all the soft wood.I used a saws all.Be for you start cutting drill test holes 1/4 to see how far you have to the hull after you strip the interior.Cut in regular shape so replacement will be easier. You may find the stringers need to be replaced,You will need to splice the new ones in on a 45deg angle s you have the most surface to apply the fiberglass. When you get the stringers glassed in.Cover with resin.Pre fit the floor section,Use marine grade plywood if you do not want to spend the money on that coat the top, edge and bottom with resin.Mark were the stringer are on the floor section and glass in place then screw to stringer with stainless screws. Drill hole under a seat as far forward as you can and pore expanding flotation foam under floor.Keep it away from the fuel tank if you can. Replace any worn wiring or hose that you find.Install the interior. As far as steel you can use navel jelly and soak the parts or you can use auto polishing compound. Think it through to the end. Test fit every thing.Take pictures of every thing as you take things apart. use marine grade when you can. Use stainless screws every were because you will get rust stains every were even the staples in the seats. Have fun and Good luck

WOW. . .I have built boats for over 40 years, and I can confirm without doubt, that had your Caravelle been built originally using the current high tech boat epoxy resin - instead of the polyester resin - the floor and everything else would still be in great shape. In fact, except in cases of small repairs where matching material and color is more important than strength or stamina, I don't think you could find anyone that has used both of these products that would ever recommend polyester or vinyl ester resin over epoxy resin. If you could, it would surely be from someone who has never used the newer epoxy resins.Boat epoxy resin is newer and a much more high tech resin. It really is a boat-builders dream product. It laminates, seals, protects, and it lays on fiberglass easier, smoother, and with almost no concern for developing blisters (as the polyester and vinyl ester resins are famous for). The boat epoxy resin is your laminate, your glue, it is much -much stronger, and lasts 1000 times longer then polyester, vinyl resin. Furthermore, you can finish it off with a good marine paint, and it will look much better than gel-coat.Granted, it is more expensive - but it is more then worth the added expense in labor and the look of your completed project. As for your 'c' bulge at the stern on both sides - they were where the mold clamps were in place, for lifting the hull out of the mold when it was made. John
