Question:

if you pull a fire alarm (the small red boxy ones) i heard it will squirt some chemical on your hand to track?

is this true, so authorities can, if need be, see who triggered the alarm(in the case it's a prank)

Answer:

I don`t know but I glad they do
I would use a metal detector - that will find the AC wiring.. good luck
Stud finders work by detecting an increase in density of the wall indicating the location of the stud. I don't think it would help in locating a wire in concrete.
Hopefully, the AC wiring was placed in conduit and will emit a good reading when you use a stud finder made specifically for locating in concretethey do make this type of stud finder but be aware that they often show full scale on just plain concrete and therefore can't always be reliable (false positives). Remember that your that you could be detecting rebar rather than wiring as well. Some people have had success using an infared heat locater and metal detectors. You can also try finding the wiring before it enters the wall and find where it daylights and do some careful measurements to give you a good guesstimate as to its location. If you want a specific brand of stud finder for this job, I personally would call several AC contractors and ask them first, if they have had exprerience locating AC wires in concrete walls and what their method is and favorite brand of product. If you are trying to find the location because of wanting to hang something on the concrete wall, you should be ok if you don't use a hanger that is longer tan 1 1/2 inches long. Best of luck.
What are you trying to do? A stud finder will not find wire. Only nails or metal.. Please give us more info.
