I like american muscle, sports cars, and lifted 4 wheel drive trucks
I'm looking to buy a car for my son soon, and though i'm not on a high schooler's budget, there's no way I'm paying much for the first car that a new driver is probably going to beat up. On the other hand, I know that what car a HS kid drives can be important. How about a 99-00 Mustang V6 coupe? I rented one once and it was decently fast, about 25-27 mpg on the highway, looks nice, and they're cheap to buy, maintenance is cheap, and insurance is reasonable (as reasonable as can be expected for a 16 year old, which is not very). Your parents will appreciate that the Mustang actually has 5 star crash safety ratings. Also replacement parts are reasonable. It was good enough that I bought an SVT Cobra a few months later and enjoyed it for 8 years. Other options are any of the nice japanese coupes- Acura RSX and Integra, Honda Prelude, Nissan 240SX, VW golf (don't buy a GTI, insurance will hurt bad). Key is to find an unmolested one.
A good first car would be something like a Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, or Ford Focus. They are affordable, reliable cars that get good mileage and are relatively cheap to insure. Any muscle car, sports car, or lifted truck you can afford on a high school student's budget is going to be a money pit in repairs and maintenance.
your moms piece of crap...or craigslist is great, old car 70s 80s era.
Ill give you one in each category. muscle.. An old mustang GT..around the 2001 model year sporty car. Mk4 2004 VW golf GTI or jetta GLI the VR6 is more reliable. 4wd. An old 2001 jeep wrangler or toyota tacoma
Muscle cars and trucks are not cars for 16 year old first timers. Too fast. Go for a well known reliable cars like the Nissan Altima coupe,Camry,Accord coupe or CRV
