Question:

im making my own airsoft gun?

im wondering where i can buy a split gearbox for my gun if i cant just buy the gearbox where can i get a descent gearbox for under 100$ and im gona be making the body out of sheet metal and copper what kind of hopup unit i should get and how i can stay under 200$ total (note i dont need a fancy charging handle right now) i have a friend who can weld and solder i can make most of the body from scratch im not worried about that its the barrel motor and buying a gearbox (preferably split) for 150$-200$ its gona be a bullpup and i dont know what kind of gearbox i should use for that

Answer:

Copper is the best. It's soft enough to bend yet strong enough to with stand the pressures involved.
For a custom build, you will want either a v3 or a v6. V2s you have to worry about securing the motor. v6s are more linear and aren't so tall, they are longer with the motor parrallel to the gearbox, the v3 is more vertical, so it depends on the shape of the stock really. It is easier to get v3 cylinders and stuff, v6s have weird trigger contacts, cylinders, and motor cages. For a hop-up, it all depends on how well you think you can custom secure it. m4s are good but awkward to adjust, especially with a custom ejection port. Maybe and AUG hopup or a G36 or something.
Use the copper. but NOT LEAD-BASED SOLDER! Silver solder only! Otherwise you are dissolving lead (a heavy-metal poison) into the distillate. Most electrical solder is lead-based, so look for what you need in the plumbing section.
