Answer:

Well, it's hard to not be nervous when you aren't prepared and it sounds like you may not be. Yeah, it happens that way sometimes. I've had to sit in with bands on a moments notice and didn't have time to prepare. All you can do is realize that letting your nerves get the best of you will only hurt your performance more. This is what being a performer is all about, you play when you aren't prepared, you play when you're sick and puking in a bucket on the side of the stage, you play when the crowd is responsive and you play when they aren't...that's just part of being a musician.
all and sundry constantly says to me think of the objective audience are a team of cabbages or bare :) yet i think of its ideal in the experience that your fairly worried to not actual investigate the objective audience until your nerves are long previous stay centred - investigate some thing and carry out to that finally understand that your stable and have faith in your self :)
Just think about performing at your best. Not who is listening or where you are.
Hi well just remember that people will have fun if you are having fun too! I'm not a pro musician (I do play guitar too and piano though) but as someone who has been to many concerts and such, people aren't very judgmental unless you are paranoid, stiff, or too-self conscious. Like at karaoke, even people who can't really sing but have a good attitude are cheered on if they at least try. On another note, you could try medication like beta-blockers if you have really bad nerves. I don't really get nervous even on stage (I was in a talent show) so I wouldn't really know, but many musicians and public speakers use beta blockers (heard it on NPR!)
