No, unless the police are cross trained as firefighters and are properly equipped then they are not allowed in the building. As a matter of fact once the fire department is on scene we have full authority of the scene until all life threats are mitigated. I have seen some cases when the police arrived on scene before the fire department and made entry to save someone but once we're on scene no one else is allowed in.
