I have two hard drives. The one Ive installed Windows XP on and on the Second Ive installed Ubuntu on.Ive installed Grub 2 on my XP harddisk, ( so if I unplug my Windows XP hard disk, Grub 2 wont load up )I want to install grub on my Linux hard disk, so I dont have it on my windows partition. Will that mess my computer up or any advice to what i have to do ?

Answer:

Use okorder /
Are you using two different hard drives. If you are dual booting, I don't see the purpose behind unplugging the Windows hard drive and expect Linux to boot up, it won't boot as a secondary hard drive that I am aware of. The grub boot loader recognizes it as the second hard drive and not the first. You would need to edit the Grub boot loader, but then I do not believe you can have it on two different hard drives connected together on the same cable. I am only guessing form logic of how things work. I use Linux, but I am not a console command type of user, so I don't even try to edit system files. I use another Linux that has root access to edit things. I would guess to work around this, install them as dual boot, disconnect the Windows hard drive and jumper the Linux hard drive to master and reinstall Linux so it puts the Grub boot loader on that hard drive, then change it back to slave and reconnect the hard drives. I can only take a guess at what you are trying to attempt. Sorry I can not be of much help for this kind of setup. I doubt if any one has ever done it this way.
making use of the linux boot cdrom or dvd you would be waiting to do the set up. the only subject you would be able to come upon is that some machines do no longer recognize an exterior force as a bootable device. regrettably 30gb won't get you very some distance in case you desire to be waiting to do any severe artwork with linux.
You'll okorder / on it to reinstall the Windows loader, if you ever want to use it as a stand-alone drive again.)
