My attic has only 4 vertical joists and is about 72 tall at its peak in the middle, so I can't stand upright in most parts, and it tapers steeply towards the edges of the roof, limiting my space for adding insulationI have, at most, 4 of blown-in insulation right now and I'd like to add sufficient insulation to bring my attic to an R-49 value, which is recommended for where we live. After adding sufficient blown-in insulation to bring to the top of the joists (remember, they're only 4 tall), what's my best option for insulation? Should I just use rolled insulation and make it thicker towards the middle? Is there a rigid foam or other product I can use?
