Question:

internal transmission filter?

i have a 2010 Honda accord, most (all) Honda transmission filter are inside the transmission itself. i have some mechanics told me that if its internal filter there is no need for replacement, just the fluid change, is it true?

Answer:

True. Most filters are life-long filters. At least life of the trans. Same as the fluid. A good flush will definitely clean the trans of any junk, contrary to ignorant belief. I would imagine a 2010 Accord trans is nowhere near as troublesome as they were about 10 years ago.
It does not improve gas mileage. Those are just myths and lies as said in the Yahoo article on the home page today. Max hp it would add is 5hp. Completely not noticeable.
save your money - your car and most cars built since 1990 have cold air intakes - all you will get from aftermarket intakes is that you will be able to hear the engine sucking air
That is incorrect. Anything requiring a filter requires a filter change. The filter is designed to catch debris and will eventually start to restrict the flow of the fluid and fail in it's design to keep the fluid free of debris thus harming your transmission.
Don't worry about the transmission filter it's internal and is non serviceable. Change the fluid when your supposed to according to Honda maintenance intervals schedule. It's 3 quart drain and fill procedure. Don't get the transmission flushed, Honda recommends not too. And when you do put 3 quarts after draining be sure to use Authentic Honda Transmission fluid. If dexron ATF with or without additive is used there's a chance you'll experience erratic or harsh shifting. Good luck and hope this helps.
