Answer:

It should be okay to take other vitamins, but you'll need to ask a doctor or pharmacist about timing. There are a lot of vitamins and minerals that actually help or hurt absorbtion, so you want to make sure you aren't taking any two of those together. You can take the various supplements, for the most part, at different times of the day, though. So ask them specifically, and mention all medications and supplements you're taking. It's up to you, but I would wait a little while (not more than a year, but long enough that you have time to heal emotionally and physically from your miscarriage), and in that time, I'd quit smoking using whatever means necessary. If you use the patch, that releases nicotine into your system in small doses throughout the day. If you are trying to get pregnant, or if you are pregnant, that means you are exposing yourself to nicotine in pregnancy, which, as I'm sure you're aware of, is not a good idea. If you want to become pregnant, or you are pregnant while trying to quit smoking, you need to be using a method that does not involve exposing yourself and your baby to nicotine, either by going cold turkey, hypnosis, replacing the nicotine and smoking habit with some other healthier habit, etc.
Vitamin C is very good to take with Iron. Vitamin C helps your body absorb the iron. (But don't take you iron pill with a big glass of milk, because calcium slows iron absorbtion.) If you are planning on another baby, take folic acid too. Iron, Vitamin C, and folic acid.that should help you out. :) Good luck.
