The best oil additive is found in Mobil1. Read your manual in the glove compartment to see what it says about aftermarket engine oil additives. If you don't want to spring for Mobil1, use Havoline, Brad Penn or Kendall motor oil with a quart of *Rislone which is a very high detergent additive. It will clean-up varnish and sludge.
