Is a shorter exhaust system better than one which goes all the way to the back ?
Most of the restriction in an exhaust system is in the exhaust manifold, second is the muffler. The length of the plain pipes after the muffler will impact the system, but not by enough to worry about. Plus, most states have laws about where the end of the exhaust pipe must be, to keep exhaust gases out of the passenger compartment.
Theres so many factors with this question. but if you wanna pass emissions id have to go with no.
Just depends on the application and what you want to do with it. The less resistance in the exhaust system, the more power you can squeeze out of the engine, but that more power comes from somewhere, namely fuel consumption.
