Question:

is better to leave your a/c on 24/7, than shutting it off and turning it back on all the time?

my parents always turn it off all the time, you would think its better to leave it on and adjust it.

Answer:

I personally use another blanket inside my quiltsI find it is cheaper and makes the quilt a lot heavier and warmerYes you sew the edge with the fabricThe yarn you use to tack it down is to keep it all together and for decorative flareThe stuff you are referring to is call battingYou can find it in craft stores and they have them for set sizes, like twin, full, queen, etcIt will make a lighter blanketYou would still sew it with the edge of the fabricYou would still use the yarns to tack it all in place and for decorative flare:)
You will need batting which is available in cotton, cotton/poly blend, wool or silkMost common is the cotton/poly blend or the cottonIf you are stitching the quilt ( all layers stitched through) then you don't sew it along the edges until the binding is put onIf you plan to tie the quilt with yarn, then first lay out the backing, next the batting layer, then the top of the quiltYou can tie the quilt and then finish the edges making sure to stitch through all layersHope this helpsGood luck to you!
The middle layer of a quilt is called battingYou can purchase cotton, polyester or woolIf you are going to tie the quilt off with yarn you can use batting that has a higher loft (meaning it is thicker)If you plan to machine quilt then you want a thinner battingWhat I use for the edges of a quilt when I make quilts is quilt bindingYou can buy that at a fabric store as wellFor a baby quilt it takes probably two packages, bigger quilts take three or fourI find it is the easiest way to finish the edges and you don't have to fuss with itI'm all for fuss free projects! Have fun but beware, making quilts can be addictive!
There is no good answer here since we can not know how well your home cools.Experts say adjust thermostat, but I have found that runs my bill up.What I do is cut it way up for cooling or off,if I am going to be away from home, depends on outside temps for that day.If I leave for a week end its off.If it takes that long to re cool your home you should be investing in better insulation.Just try it one way then the other for the month and see if you have a savings is the only way you can know for sure.
