Question:

is cement bad for your skin or breathing it?

on my way to work i drove by a cement truck that was pouring the cement to lay new side walk is that bad is there anything in the air that i can get from that or any sort of skin reaction

Answer:

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you stuck your head right by it and took in huge breaths of it, you'll be fine.
It is bad to smell but no unless you dealing with cement or pavement all the time, it isn't anything to worry about.
The cement powder mix is bad to breathe and wet cement is bad to get on your skin, but just driving past a cement truck?? Nah, you should be good.
Yes and YES. The cement can harden on your skin and some of the material in the cement can actually burn your skin. And if you try to take a harddened piece of cement off of your arm, it can pull the skin off. Breathing it in is worse. If you breathe in enough of the cement dust over the years, the cement can actually harden in your lungs, causing emphysema. It is irreversible and deadly. That is why it is always a great idea to wear a face mask and long sleeve shirt when working with cement. But.. just driving past a cement truck and breathing in a minut amout of dust is not gonna hurt you, unless you have asthma.
cement can be very bad on your skin if your in it all the time, it has lye in it. i wouldnt breath it either.
