is it a good idea to get the ABS brakes on a motorcycle?

Answer:

ok i dont think you understand 1 u will die of boredom 2 it is insanely hard to get 99 mining/ smithing 3 good luck 4 if you want to keep your life and stay under 400lbs you will never get it 5 go for the gold but dont try to hard
It's an expensive option, and they still can't match a trained hand and foot. I am inclined not to get ABS. Especially models that link brakes together. When you want only the front brake, they actuate the rear, and when you want the rear they actuate the front. What possible use is that? And all too often you go over the bars because of it.
Excellent idea. If I were buying a new bike (highly unlikely) and ABS was offered as an option, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I've dumped too many times in the rain and on icey patches as it is. Anything that keeps the shiney side up is a GOOD THING!
I have had training for ABS but personally never rode a bike with it. The videos from Harley that i have seen are very impressive. Basically when you grab the brake, the abs control module finds the fastest way to slow you down without loss of traction. It does a great job. You can completely slam on the brakes in water or ice and the bike will not skid. They have done numerous test and various speeds and the abs stops just as fast or faster than not equipped vehicles, and also in a very controlled manner. Don't get me wrong, there are speeds and conditions that conventional brakes worked better, but at normal riding speeds and conditions, ABS was the standout.
