Is it a wise idea to mount a 32 inch plasma tv onto a plasterboard wall? Will it hold?
You should not mount anything of weight or value straight into plaster. Plaster is to weak to hold and the TV will fall, land on the floor and broken. Buy a mount for the TV and fasten the mount to the studs.
You have to have these things: - The right mounting kit - A Stud finder - The proper tools Never mount something heavy into just plaster. Find the wall studs, usually at 16 inch intervals(but check another part of your structure with exposed studs to prove it) - Install the mount kit using the instructions they provide, and NO SHORT CUTS. Lots of people try to get away with not taking care. I hope this helps, good luck.
I actually did this once and my TV was not on the wall more than 20 minutes and it fell off and shattered the screen and busted the tv up pretty good, not to mention the big gouge in my newly re surfaced hardwood floors, so no its not a good idea. Like the others said, make sure you mount it into a wall stud.
Not at all. As previously mentioned you must screw your mounting brackets into at least 2 studs. If your mounting brackets aren't long enough, you take a piece of plywood and first mount it to the wall and hit 3 studs and then mount the TV to the plywood and it would be very strong.
