is it ok for the smoke detector to blink red on and off?

my smoke detector just went off and im a little worried its gonna go off again. everything is open and it hasnt gone off for about 5 minutes, but ive also been fanning it off. is it ok for the red thing to blink on and off about 3 times a minute?

As long as there's nothing plugged into the outlet, it's perfectly safe. They're designed with just that kind of thing in mind.
If the alarm was installed by you, read the instruction manual. If the alarm was installed by a company, call them and ask. But either way, your daughter is probably wrong - most alarms don't disarm when you open the door with your key, instead once you are inside the house you need to go to the system keypad and enter your code within a few seconds to disarm the system.
NO! Very dangerous! If it is a grounded outlet the blanket can be a very big fire hazard!
