It's a 3 bedroom house and I prefer the cool fresh air. But I don't want to mess up the heater or waste money. Thanks.
As long as most of the other vents in the house are opened, you should be okay. If too many vents are closed, the heat exchanger in the furnace might overheat. There is a temperature sensor to detect that, but it's best to not cause that to trip (most have to be manually reset by opening the furnace).
Call the furnace restore man and ask. We've got a large house with best 10 vents for AC/warmness. After we had our new furnace set up, the crew advised us that we wanted to hold all 10 vents open or else we would overtax the method. They told us that to save lots of power in the areas we didn't ought to heat (like spare rooms, basements and so forth) that the nice coverage was to simply shut the door. I will be able to see how forcing air through a smaller ducting approach can put a stress on the motor, just like dealing with a field fan right into a wall. A cell name to the dealer is cheaper than having to switch the furnace :)
