Question:

Is it possible to be allergic to yarn?

i have this weird rash in my hand its been there for about a year but the doctor said it was allergies,i thought it was a ringworm.but since i used to use yarn a lot to crochet the doctor said it might be it.im allergic to dust but is it possible it was the yarn that started this?i dont use it anymore and i still have it but idk what else it could be.does anyone have this too some kind of skin reaction to yarn?

Answer:

Have you considered going to red heart's website?
yes if the yarn was a natural fiber like wool or angora usuallyAlot of people are very allergic to theseDid your hands tingle while you were crocheting? It's probably the yarnI wouldn't think it would last that long thoughTry soaking your hands in warm water and a little oatmeal to get rid of the red and see if that helpsThe oatmeal helps draw out some of the irritationGood luck
