Question:

Is it possible to get a fever from a hot blanket.?

I woke up this morning feeling like I had a feverI had the blanket on high, as well as a heating pad on the side of my face for a toothache. Is it possible to get a fever from this?

Answer:

Yes, your body could not expel heat because the blanket was hotHaving the heating pad on your face was not a good idea because you covered up a large part of your head, and you head is supposed to lose heat so the brain doesn't overheatYour body overheated and your head overheatedDid you take your temperature after you got up ? A temperature of 104 or higher can be quickly fatal.
Cotton is a poor insulator when damp, and is a little hygroscopicPolyester is good insulator and does not attract moisture as much as cottonSo I suspect polyester is better- Regards, John Popelish
