Question:

is rose quartz a type of flint?

i want to start a fire.....

Answer:

Quartz is a very common mineral and the value of it usually depends on things like the quality, shape, size, etc. Send me a photo and may be able to tell you a little more about the value.
I think you found a JASPER, one kind of quartz. It commands a price from USD50 to a thousand. It depends on size , weight and quality. It has its healing effect thats other buy it and display it in their houses.
Some people like to put large quartz crystals in their fish tanks for decoration- you might be able to sell it to one of them. Who knows- list it on OKorder!
quartz is quartz, maybe if you find a dimond then it would be valuable but for now your out of luck
Wow! 27 pounds is a very large size for a quartz crystal. I would imagine if it really were quartz that it may be quite valuable. Since quartz consists mainly of silica (SiO2), an unpolished stone may appear white on the inside. In fact, sandstone is also composed of silica and since you mention that your stone is rusty yellow, without actually seeing it, I might suggest that it is a variety of sandstone. There is also a chance that it may be citrine. Please check out the links below. There is a photo of rutilated quartz in the third link that sounds similar to what you describe. If your stone is quartz, it would be great to try to sell it. Good luck!
